Hello there! My name is Shannon Prebil. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Before obtaining my Master’s degree, I attended Saint Mary’s College of California and received a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. I currently am a member of CAMFT and OC CAMFT.
I am passionate about engaging my clients in Exposure and Response Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness to break their compulsion cycles.
I have experience working with anxiety and intrusive thoughts in children, teen, and adult survivors of generational trauma. I also have practice with clients experiencing PTSD, depression, suicidal ideation, and healing from previous relationship distress. Lastly, emotional regulation is a huge part of my work as I help people understand what their feelings mean and how to manage them more effectively.
I strive to be patient, kind, and open to any individual or population so my clients can feel supported, heard, and empowered to achieve more than they could imagine on their own.
I am an active listener who gives my clients a safe space to share a range of feelings. I empathetically relate to my clients and help them discover new perspectives by reframing their negative thought patterns. I mostly work from a Cognitive Behavioral lens and encourage my clients to participate in understanding their distortions through several applicable restructuring techniques.
In my free time you can find me at Disneyland, at the beach, taking dance classes, or trying the newest restaurant in town!
